Job Overview:

Key Responsibilities:
· Personal Care:
o Assist clients with personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
o Support clients with mobility, including helping them move, transfer, or use mobility aids.
o Help clients with eating and drinking, including preparing meals and assisting during mealtimes.
· Health Support:
o Administer prescribed medications and monitor health conditions under the supervision of healthcare professionals.
o Assist with primary health care tasks, such as checking vital signs or changing dressings.
o Support clients during medical appointments and liaise with healthcare providers as needed.
· Domestic Assistance:
o To ensure a safe living environment, perform household duties such as cleaning, laundry, and tidying.
o Assist with shopping and running errands for or with the client.
o Prepare and serve nutritious meals, catering to the client's dietary needs and preferences.
· Emotional and Social Support:
o Provide emotional support, helping to alleviate loneliness or anxiety.
o Encourage residents to engage in activities and maintain relationships with family and friends.
o Support clients in maintaining hobbies and interests and engaging in meaningful activities.
· Health and Safety:
o Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure clients' safety during all activities.
o Report any changes in the client's condition, accidents, or incidents to a supervisor or healthcare professional.
o Ensure all care is provided respectfully and non-intrusively, upholding the client's dignity.
· Record Keeping:
o Maintain accurate records of care provided, including daily activities, food and fluid intake, medication administration, and any incidents.
o Communicate effectively with other care team members, including reporting concerns or changes in the client's condition.
Qualifications and Skills:
· Essential:
o Compassionate, caring, and patient nature.
o Good communication skills and building relationships with clients and their families.
o Ability to follow care plans and work under the supervision of healthcare professionals.
o Physical stamina to assist with lifting and mobility tasks.
· Preferred:
o Experience in a care role or related field.
o Relevant qualifications in health and social care (e.g., NVQ/SVQ in Health and Social Care).
o Basic first aid training.
o A valid driver's license, especially if the role involves travelling between clients.
Working Conditions:
· Hours: Care Assistants may work on a full-time, part-time, or shift basis, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
· Environment: Work is typically carried out in a care home, nursing home, or the client's home.
· Physical Demands: The role involves physical tasks such as lifting, assisting with mobility, and supporting personal care, which can be physically demanding.
